Our pedagogy

Pedagogy and methodology of French courses at Lyon Bleu International.

Generally speaking, the pedagogy, methodology and content proposed in the French courses in Lyon Bleu International refer to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) and its pedagogical principles as well as the objectives required for each DELF/DALF and TCF examination level.

The pedagogical program of Lyon Bleu is called the syllabus. For group courses, the syllabus is the same for all KLF schools.

Syllabus

Which syllabus for group courses and combined courses in General French?

There is a syllabus for the following levels:

  • A1, A2, B1, B2: 8-week syllabus
  • C1: 16-week syllabus

The syllabus offers 3 sections each week:

  • Communication objectives
  • Grammar objectives
  • Vocabulary theme

For the "Communication objectives" and "Grammar objectives" sections, weekly objectives are proposed for each level.

The teacher will make work choices with the group based on the individual and collective prior knowledge of the group participants over the week.

In the "Vocabulary theme" section, a theme is suggested as a lexical thread for the learning week. The theme serves as a contextual link to the communication and grammar objectives.

The 4 skills are worked on throughout the week (oral comprehension, oral production, written comprehension, written production).

The intercultural dimension is integrated into the learning week and is closely linked to the week's vocabulary theme.

The teachers are free to prepare and propose the pedagogical means they wish, tailor-made material, adapted to the needs of the trainee/student, in the form of distributed photocopied files or in computerised form (no particular manual).

Throughout the week, teachers assess students' skills and ensure that the week's syllabus objectives have been achieved by the end of the week.

Lyon Bleu International and Evalang

Lyon Bleu and its pedagogical team choose to focus on a formative evaluationThis is an integral part of the learning process, allowing the teacher and the student to position themselves continuously in the progression and evaluation of the objectives that remain to be achieved throughout their French course program.

Nevertheless, we have found it necessary to provide any student who wishes to do so, at any time during their program, a summative evaluation, in order to be able to complete the evaluation process with an "external" test.

We chose Evalang :

  • 100% online
  • Simple and fast
  • Multi-support
  • Based on the CECR

Evalang assesses general French skills in the following areas: written comprehension, oral comprehension, grammar and vocabulary. The test can be taken at any time during the French program. The Lyon Bleu team is available to advise students who wish to purchase and take this test.

Tutoring at Lyon Bleu International

Since 2011, Lyon Bleu offers its students tutoring sessions that give students a context for practicing and perfecting the program seen in class.

Tutoring is a free service.

At the teacher's or the student's request, the tutored student works on skills to be acquired. The work is done on the computer using self-corrected exercises. And a teacher is on hand to help students and answer their questions throughout the tutoring session.
